Melbourne has no shortage of furniture stores, but if you want high-end pieces without paying full retail, a furniture clearance centre is one of the best places to look. Here is how clearance shopping works and how to make the most of it.
What a furniture clearance centre sells
Clearance centres buy excess stock and discontinued lines from furniture brands and retailers. At Mentone Furniture Clearance Centre, everything sold online is brand new in the box. Ex-display pieces are only available on our shop floor in Cheltenham. Read more in what is clearance furniture?
How much can you save?
Savings vary by item, but clearance prices can be up to 80% off RRP. The biggest markdowns are usually on discontinued colours and the last few pieces of a range. Check our special offers for the current best deals.
What to look for when you shop
- Condition: ask whether an item is brand new or ex-display.
- Measurements: check the product photos and measure your space first.
- Configuration: confirm details like LHF or RHF on corner sofas, and how many chairs come with a dining set.
- Delivery: find out how delivery is priced and whether stairs cost extra.
- Payment options: many clearance centres, including ours, offer Afterpay and Zip.
Best times to shop
New clearance stock arrives throughout the year as brands update their ranges, so there is no single best month. The best approach is to shop often, follow us on Instagram for new arrivals, and act quickly when you see something you love, because quantities are limited.
Visit the showroom
Our showroom is in Cheltenham, easy to reach from Mentone, Moorabbin, Sandringham, Brighton, Beaumaris and the rest of Melbourne. Seeing pieces in person helps you judge comfort, colour and size, and you may find ex-display bargains that are not online. Find directions on our contact page.
